About me

I've been creating paintings since the early eighties when I graduated from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia. My current oil painting series is named "Womanaza." In these paintings I depict female figures as elements in landscape settings. I strive to make my work fun to look at using bold color, unique composition and by playing with perspective. I often hint at a narrative in my work and want the viewer to feel engaged with whatever narrative comes to mind. A few Artists from whom I get inspiration are Rene Magritte, David Hockney, Alice Neel, Grant Wood, Georgia O'keeffe, Henri Rousseau, and Howard Finster. I also am inspired by these groups or styles of art:  The Group of Seven from Canada, The Hairy Who from Chicago, German Expressionism, and Magical Realism.
